Proud Writer

I was a late bloomer academically. I’ve always been smart, but never really took school seriously. I just did the bare minimum to pass and make sure my parents are satisfied, but never really lived up to my full potential.

It wasn’t until my freshmen year in HS, when it all really clicked. That I wasn’t born to be average, and I truly became motivated and found my purpose. By pushing myself academically I discovered a love for reading. I started to read any and everything and from reading eventually blossomed into writing. I always considered myself a math geek and didn’t believe my writing was any good, so I just kept it to myself.

I remember one night my mother found my books of poems and was extremely impressed. She tried to encourage me to enter a poetry completion or at least join the poetry club, but I was too embarrassed and had no faith in my own writing. I still just kept my secret collection of journals and word documents of all of my inner thoughts.

It wasn’t until college, when I wrote an essay for class, that my professor was so impressed, that she insisted I enter the paper into an essay competition. I allowed my father and roommate to read the paper for their thoughts. They loved it and both insisted I should start a blog. I was initially extremely hesitant, because I definitely did not think my writing was blog worthy. I also did not think anyone would care about what I had to say.

I decided to step out of my comfort zone and take a leap of faith and just create a blog. One of the best and proudest decisions I’ve made. I love watching my blog grow, and the wonderful feedback I receive. It has been an overwhelmingly pleasant surprise and enjoying each moment of it.

  1. I love your blog, its become one of my favorites. My blog was a total leap of faith decision as well. I am my own worst critic and I didn’t think that anyone would even read it. I never thought that it would end up being something that I am so passionate about.💜
