I was a late bloomer academically. I’ve always been smart but never really took school seriously. I did the bare minimum to pass and ensure my parents were satisfied, but I never lived up to my full potential.
It wasn’t until my freshman year in high that it all clicked. I wasn’t born to be average, and I became motivated and found my purpose. By pushing myself academically, I discovered a love for reading. I started to read any and everything, and from reading eventually blossomed into writing. I always considered myself a math geek and didn’t believe my writing was good, so I kept it to myself.
I remember one night, my mother found my books of poems and was highly impressed. She tried to encourage me to enter a poetry completion or at least join the poetry club, but I was too embarrassed and had no faith in my own writing. I kept my secret collection of journals and Word documents of my inner thoughts.
It wasn’t until college, when I wrote an essay for class that my professor was so impressed that she insisted I enter the paper into an essay competition. I allowed my father and roommate to read the paper for their thoughts. They loved it, and both insisted I should start a blog. Initially, I hesitated because I did not think my writing was blog-worthy. I also did not believe anyone would care about what I had to say.
I decided to step out of my comfort zone, leap of faith, and create a blog. One of the best and proudest decisions I’ve made. I love watching my blog grow and the fantastic feedback I receive. It has been an overwhelmingly pleasant surprise, and enjoying each moment of it.
I love your blog, its become one of my favorites. My blog was a total leap of faith decision as well. I am my own worst critic and I didn’t think that anyone would even read it. I never thought that it would end up being something that I am so passionate about.💜
