Guess what? I went to see The Wizard, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Once again, my opinions were solicited in a very magical way.

I am thrilled that I had an excellent opportunity to pre-screen Wicked. What can I say? I love the movie; it defies expectations!

Wicked is a captivating new take on the story of good and evil. I love a good villain origin story, and The Wicked Witch of the West is no exception. Full transparency, I knew two things about the movie beforehand, it is a musical and appears girly, but I was excited!
“Everyone Deserves The Chance To Fly”
The movie explores many themes, such as friendship, individualism, and standing up for what is right. As I watched the film, I related a lot to Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), especially during my teenage years, being the only one unable to blend in. Wicked is a beautiful reminder to never blend in when born to stand out. But it also illustrates the reality of being different; it can become isolating, and everyone needs a friend. Someone to take the time to understand you, especially if you’re typically misunderstood.

I highly recommend Wicked. Obviously, it’s for those who love musicals; the music and vocals are truly magical! Also, to all women, Wicked does a beautiful job of displaying how unlikely individuals can form a powerful duo! Opposites attract, and there’s so much to gain and learn from another person’s perspective while staying true to who you are.
“Don’t lose sight of who you are.”
A message I took away from the film is to never allow yourself or others to limit your potential. People are going to have opinions about what you do with your life, but at the end of the day, it is your life, your choice. Everyone deserves to fly, so fly in the direction that brings you peace and happiness. Those who truly love you will cheer you on and watch you soar to unlimited heights.
Wicked will be released in theaters this Friday, November 22; let me know what message you’re left with.
