Full disclosure: my opinions have been solicited, and it’s time to talk; listen up. This film left me speechless and introspective in the best possible way!
I had the privilege of prescreening Disclosure Day, from legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg, one of the year’s most thought-provoking cinematic experiences. The film requires humanity to take a hard look at itself in the mirror. It explores how faith and the existence of other life forms can coexist.
Disclosure Day left this Muslimah with questions, but the film also articulated a beautiful masterpiece of morally grey dilemmas: everyone has a solid why, but does the end justify the means, and are we all entitled to the truth, or are some things better left unsaid for the collective good?
“Don’t be afraid of what you don’t know.”
You should know by now: we don’t do spoilers. This is one of those films you must see for yourself, especially for all the believers. Disclosure Day touched on a variety of messages and themes, but the biggest was faith- not in the religious sense, but more in the sense of faith in a larger plan, and that we all have a role to play in seeing it through.
I related to Emily Blunt as Margaret Fairchild the most throughout the film: the restless feeling of not living in your purpose and seeking your place in this world. Honestly, it was very much Sagittarius energy, and it was a pleasant surprise to find that Spielberg’s birthday is the day before mine.
Disclosure Day echoed a philosophy I live by: go with the flow, trust your instincts, and you will eventually see the full picture. Often, returning to your roots, leaning into the discomfort, and conquering your fears lead to the answer. But with all things comes duality, and you know you are on the wrong path if it is literally draining the life out of you. You must always be fabulous, even through chaos.
“Do you want make up… yeah!”
I highly recommend Disclosure Day, which is set for release in theaters on Friday, June 12, 2026. I can’t wait to hear everyone’s opinions because I am still learning and realizing more lessons as I reflect on the many layers of the film. I was on the edge of my seat, and you all need to enjoy the experience as well!
