My Medical Cannabis Journey: Transforming Misconceptions

Y’all, I must make this disclaimer before I share what I have learned through research with the addition of trial and error of medical cannabis. The cannabis elevates my lifestyle that I follow under a medical doctor’s supervision. Please always consult with a medical professional; I’m here to share my experience and insights from a patient’s perspective.

I have been using medical cannabis since the pandemic. Initially, I was like most people, but I had a lot of negative misconceptions. I didn’t know there was a difference between medical and recreational, and I was hesitant to even get a medical card because I felt it was unnecessary or would come back to haunt me one day. This led to many misinformed purchases, resulting in money wasted at the end of the day.

Then, one day, and of course through Leafwell, I elevated my life, qualified, and received a medical card, which quickly showed me there is a vast difference between medical and recreational cannabis.

The appointment alone to obtain the card was an educational lesson on how to properly use cannabis for my individual health. The doctor broke down the dosage and different stains and went beyond my eyes. He went through my overall health and needs, and each year, when I renew my card, we update the prescription for my new needs. I’m a lady, and my body is constantly changing, so why wouldn’t I update my cannabis prescription like I do my other medical prescriptions.

I also learned there are more options than just brownies and smoking cannabis. There are topicals, tinctures, bath bombs, drinks, and more. There are so many ways to receive the benefits of THC without the psychedelic effects. I prefer to be elevated into the next galaxy, but unfortunately, I must get work done and be productive. I appreciate all of the options the medical card allows.

Now, back to my eyes, I have found using cannabis in addition to my eye drops overall has helped my pressure and headaches. More research still needs to be done, but this is what I do. I typically partake in edible during my rest or low-impact gym days, and that’s 2-3x a week. But thanks to the foot, it’s been more often, and my pressure has been the lowest it has ever been. I do not go to my appointments elevated. I follow doctors’ orders and warmly compress my eyes weekly.
